FRANCIS BACON [ 1561 – 1626 ] The life of Francis Bacon is a story of a life devoted to great ideas. These ideas grew on him from his very childhood and pre-occupied him until his death. His genius has been hailed as one of the greatest in the world of literature, yet his essays provide an insight into governing the problems freed by the society. Bacon was a philosopher, statesman, writer and a lawyer. He joined politics to satisfy his craving for power. He advocated original ways by which men could establish legitimate command. Though he had a scientific bent of mind, he was engaged with organizational and utilization aspect of science in the upliftment of the society. His writings reveal his precise and original thinking and correctly cast him as a prophet of modern literature.
