Rukmini
heard Krishnas words with total seriousness, as she understood them.
Krishna went to Revati
and said that Balram would come with him. In his absence the reins of Dvarka would be in
her hands.
Revati informed him that
Satrajit was dividing the Yadavas. He was instigating the Yadavas against Krishna. Many
Yadavas had begun to oppose them. Satrajit wanted to turn Satyaki against them. Satrajit
wanted his daughter to marry Satyaki. In this way, he wanted to adopt Satyaki but Satyaki
had bluntly refused the offer.
Note: - The
love for power is strong enough to drive even the virtuous men into the darkness of evils.
Even in ancient times, this tendency prevailed. Women were used as a medium to attain a
persons political needs. Men of high and low rank reduced daughters and sisters to
mere playthings. Women had no choice of their own. They were just used like any other
commodity. Rukmi wanted Rukmini to marry Shishupal. Jarasandh wanted his granddaughter
Apravi to marry Rukmi. Drupad wanted his daughter to marry Jarasandhs grandson and
Satrajit wanted his daughter to marry Satyaki. All these moves were just for satisfying
the ambitions of the kings. Krishna was a vehement campaigner against this. He questioned
the selfish treatment meted out to women.
Seeing Krishna pondering,
Revati said that Satyaki knew of Satyabhamas love for Krishna. He had turned down
Satrajits offer and was not going to accept it in future.
This matter ended there
and Krishna went to Balram. Balram said that Satrajit had called him and he was going to
meet him. At this, Krishna suggested that instead of going there, Balram should call him
there. Thus, Balram called Satrajit citing ill health as a pretext.
After receiving
Balrams message Satrajit rushed to Dvarka. Krishna gave a splendid reception to him.
Satrajit was very serious. He neither spoke to Krishna nor did he greet Krishnas
father Vasudev and grandfather Ugrasen. He just talked to Balram. His ego coupled up with
his envy of Dvarkas prosperity were the prime reasons for this behavior. He was
burning in the fire of egotism, envy and dislike. The whole of Dvarka could feel it.
The next day, Satrajit met the
grandfather for some discussions and to present his views. At this time Krishna called his
father Vasudev, uncle Akrur, Satyaki and others. |
