DEC. 27, 1822 Birth of Louis Pasteur in Dole, in the region of Jura France.
1843 He joined the Ecole Normale Superieure.
1849 He was appointed lecturer of chemistry at Strasbourg University.
MAY 29, 1849 He married Marie Laurent.
1853 He was awarded the Cross-of the Legion of Honor.
1854 Appointed professor of chemistry and Dean of the new faculty of sciences at Lille.
1857 Became Manager and Director of scientific studies at the Ecole Normale Superieure in Paris.
1862 He was elected to the Academy of Sciences.
1864 He invented Pasteurization.
1867

He was awarded the Grand Prix Medal at the Exposition Universelle for his work on Pasteurization, in July. He was appointed professor of chemistry at the University of Sorbonne.
OCT. 19, 1868 Suffered an attack of paralysis on his left side.
1870 Publication of Studies on the Diseases of Silkworms.
1873 He was elected to the Academy of Medicine.
1876 Publication of Studies on Beer.
1877 He propounded The Germ Theory of Disease.
1879 Discovery of immunization against disease, using weakened bacteria.
JUNE 2, 1881 Successful experiment of vaccinating sheep against anthrax.
1881

Awarded the Grand Cross of the Legion of Honor.

1882 He was elected to the Academie Francaise.
JULY 6, 1885

Successfully tested his first vaccine against Rabies on Joseph Meister.

NOV. 14, 1888 Inauguration of The Pasteur Institute in Paris.
1894

The Pasteur Institute succeeded in producing vaccine for diphtheria.

SEPT. 28, 1895

Death of Louis Pasteur at Saint Cloud, near Paris, France.
