Water Torture Cell


The famed magician was lowered upside down a water tight the cell and the audience sat transfixed gazing through the glass front illusion aware that unless the escape was achieved within precious minutes, it would result in the performer’s death. The container was then locked and tightly banded. Curtains were drawn around it and the notes of plaintive melodies filled the air in the background. An assistant stood with an axe to break the lid in case Houdini could not disappear in time. The master illusionist, in no time, was not only out of the cell but also seen coming from the public, without any signs of congestion, choking or fatigue that the water could cause to any person.

Bean Giant CuffHarry Houdini

Houdini offered $100,000 to anyone who could release himself from the cuffs that he used. He would lock himself with bean giant cuffs behind his back, a feat no one had accomplished earlier. He would be locked in several pairs of handcuffs simultaneously. The keyholes were all stamped and sealed. He freed himself from all the handcuffs without tampering the seals, in no time, and the spectators were left wondering how he achieved this impossible task!

Rope Escape

He used a 60 feet rope and asked people to tie him in knots of all possible types. Curtains were drawn around him and in no time he untied himself.

Milk Can Escape

He devised the milk can escape, in which he was manacled and entered the can unclothed. It was a highly difficult get to fold oneself into such a tiny space for being underwater required a lot of nerves and stamina. He proved his mettle in this event. Audiences were constantly made aware that "failure meant a drowning death". After his entrance into the can, milk and water was poured till the can was filled to the brim. The audience waited anxiously for him. He escaped in a flash, but waited a little longer to appear before the audience to increase the hype.
