1682-89 Studied at Trinity College, Dublin.

Moved to England as secretary to Sir William Temple.
1692 M A from Oxford.
1695 Ordained as Priest.
1696 Wrote A Tale of Tub.
1697 Wrote The Battle of Books.
1699 Returned to Ireland, a Chaplain to Lord Berkeley.
1702 Received Doctor of Divinity from University of Dublin.
1704 A Tale of Tub and The Battle of Books published.
1710 Began Journal to Stella and essays in the Examiner.
1711 Published The Conduct of the Allies.
1713 Swift appointed Dean of St Patrick's.
1714 Settled in Dublin.
1720 Began writing Gulliver’s Travels.
1724 Wrote Drapier’s Letters.
1726 Visited England. Gulliver’s Travels published.
1727 Swift’s last visit to England.
1731 Composed Verses on the death of Dr. Swift.
1739 Verses on the death of Dr. Swift published.
1742 Swift was declared of having ‘unsound mind and memory’.
1745 Jonathan Swift died.
