With the name of Generalissimo Stalin the glorious victories of our army will go down in the history of our country and in the history of the world. Under the guidance of Stalin, the great leader and organizer we are now proceeding to peaceful constructive labors, striving to bring the forces of Socialist society to full fruition and to justify the dearest hopes of our friends all over the world."

Hailed as a ‘shining sun’, or ‘the star of life’, Joseph Vissarionovich Stalin was a Georgian Marxist revolutionary.

Though being a cobbler’s son, Stalin grew to be a tyrannical dictator in the worst political environment. For the people of Russia, Stalin was the incarnation of heroism, their ideal of patriotism. "For Stalin ! For our country" – with this roar the dauntless Soviet Army crushed the vicious and treacherous army of fascist Germany, and hoisted the flag of victory over Berlin. They also demolished imperialist Japan and brought security to the frontiers of Russia in the Far East. Thus, Stalin’s name became a symbol of the courage and glory of Russian people, a call to heroic deeds for the welfare of their great country.
